In a crowded and expensive market, how will the MetroCar fares compare to other transport options?
MetroCar is looking at its second-biggest market, Melbourne, to see how it fares compared to its big brother, Uber.
MetroCar, a ride-hailing service based in the US, has already launched a ride in Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra.
It’s hoped the service will provide more choice and affordability to the city’s commuters.
“It’s a great opportunity for MetroCar and for the wider Melbourne community,” MetroCar CEO Alex Della Fave said.
He said the MetroCars new platform was a key to the company’s success.
“Our goal is to provide a truly free and efficient service in the Melbourne CBD and we’re looking to bring that to other cities across the country,” he said.
“The MetroCar platform is designed to help us deliver this in a truly transparent and transparent way.”
However, MetroCar says it will not compete with Uber.
The Melbourne MetroCards launch in September.
In Melbourne, MetroCarp is planning to launch a service in Sydney next year, and a new service in Canberra next year.
MetroCarp also has a Sydney branch, and Melbourne has one in Adelaide.
It launched in the Australian Capital Territory in February 2016 and is currently operating in Brisbane, Adelaide and Canberra, with further expansions planned.
Melbourne has seen some of the highest rates of UberX, UberPool, and Lyft usage in Australia.
UberX costs $8 for up to four people and $15 for more than four.
Lyft costs $15 a month and can be paid online, via a credit card or by phone.
